It is indispensable to make these adjustments when the machine
is already completely assembled (no matter whether with or
without the "Automatic ").
If an adjustment has to be made, proceed as follows:
Raise the knob No. D 85559 completely upward.
Loosen the nut No. 041030 DA.
Screw (or unscrew) slightly the screw No. 042090 GAB until
a minimum distance of 3/64" between the push pin No. 85589
and the conical part No. 85545 is obtained.
Firmly tighten the nut No. 041030 DA.
Now, check whether the conical part No. 85545 is being push
ed out completely from part No. 85544 (see Fig. 79) when the
knob No. D 85559 is completely pressed down in the darning
position.
If this is not the case, then the part No. 85544, and also the
Feed Dog Lifting Shaft No. A 85508 are pushed too much to left
(toward the needle bar). Therefore, the adjustment has to be
made toward the right (toward the balance wheel).
If it is necessary to move the part No. 85544 and the shaft No.
85508 toward the right, it will also be necessary to move the
Feed Eccentric No. 20026 (on the upper shaft) and the
connecting rods Nos. D 85506 and A 26345 in the same direction.
In this case it will be necessary again to check the timing of the
Feed Dog in relation to the needle bar. When reassembling the
machine, check again the adjustments a, b, c, d and e, as
explained above.
The teeth of the Feed Dog must be about 5/64" to 7/64" below
the needle plate when the knob No. D 85559 is completely
pressed down. Adjust this distance with the aid of screw No.
035150 GAN (see Figs. 55 and 80).
