CVT BELT WEAR

Possible Cause
Driving onto a pickup or trailer in high range
Starting out on a steep hill in high range
Driving at low RPM or low ground speed
Insufficient warm-up at low ambient temperatures
Slow clutch engagement
Towing and pushing at low RPM or low ground speed
Utility use
Stuck in mud or snow
Climbing over large objects from a stopped position
Belt slippage from water or snow ingestion into the
CVT system.
Clutch malfunction
Poor engine performance
Slippage from failure to warm up CVT belt
Wrong or missing CVT belt
Improper break-in

ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK

Possible Cause
Ignition is off
Accelerator is pressed
Brake pedal is not pressed
Defective fuse
Low battery voltage or defective battery
Loose battery connections
Corroded battery terminals
Loose solenoid connections
Loose electronic control box connections

Use low range when loading.
Use low range.
Drive at higher speeds or use low range more frequently.
Warm the engine a minimum of five (5) minutes. Put the transmission in N,
press the throttle five to seven times in short bursts to make the CVT belt
more flexible and prevent belt burning.
Press the accelerator quickly and effectively.

Put the transmission in low range and use fast, aggressive acceleration to
engage the clutch.
Excessive acceleration can cause loss of
control and vehicle rollover.

Dry out the CVT. See Draining the CVT on page 58. Inspect the clutch seals
for damage if repeated leaking occurs.

Check for fouled plugs or foreign material in the fuel tank or lines.

Always warm up the belt by operating below 30 MP for one mile (5 miles or
more when temperature is below freezing).
Install the recommended belt.
Always break in a new belt and/or clutch. See CVT BELT BREAK-IN on
page 30.
Turn on the ignition.
Remove foot from accelerator pedal.
Press the brake pedal.
Check fuses.
Recharge or replace the battery.
Check all connections and tighten.
Remove corrosion from terminals.
Check all connections and tighten.
Inspect, clean, reinstall connectors.
