Ranging

Ranging occurs when the HN9800 measures the distance to the satellite to calibrate
transmit power and timing. Figure 22 shows ranging in progress.
Once ranging completes, the HN9800's transmit and receive signal are synchronized
to the satellite for optimal transport service.
Upon completion, registering the modem begins automatically.
1. Remove the DAPT2 and connect the IFL cable from the satellite modem to the
radio assembly.
2. Go back inside to complete the installation of the modem.
At this point the modem automatically begins the process of commissioning which
includes registering with the NOC, and related activities.
