This is saying that this volume's directory needs to be re-written in the S2000 format. To do
this, press F2 - WIPE - this will automatically rewrite the directory. After this, you may use the
volume as a normal S2000 volume. If you have any doubts, press F1 - CANCEL.
An S1000/S1100 cannot directly read sample and program data from an S2000 but a software
version does exist for the S1000/S1100 that allows a certain degree of backwards
compatibility. Please contact your Akai dealer for information on this if you want to use S2000
sounds in an S1000 or S1100.
The S900 or S950 cannot read S2000 sound data.
If you have an S3000 (or 2800 or 3200), you will be able to use S2000 sample and program
data with no special software required (although it is advisable to have the latest software
version for best results).

EFFECTS FILES

If the S2000 has the optional EB16 multi-effects board installed, this cannot use effects files
from the S1100, S3000 or S3200. Effects files created for the S2000's optional multi-effects
cannot be used in the S1100, S3000 or S3200.

MULTIS

The way older Akai samplers dealt with multi-timbral sequencing, layering, etc., was to give two
or more programs the same program number and assign MIDI channels to the programs as
required. This concept has now been dropped in favour of the much easier to use and more
flexible MULTI mode. Using the MULTI mode, the same results can be achieved but much
more easily. However, if you load what was previously a group of programs set up for multi-
timbral sequencing and/or layering created on an S1000, S1100, S2800, S3000 or S3200,
you will have to convert them 'manually' into an S2000 multi file - that is, assign the programs to
parts and set MIDI channels and other 'part parameters' accordingly. Given the ease with which
this can be done in the S2000's multi mode, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
An older Akai sampler cannot read the new generation of samplers' MULTI files.

ME-35T DRUM SETTINGS

The S2000 does not have the ability to control an Akai ME-35T drum-MIDI converter and so
cannot read those files.

SONGS AND QLISTS

As the S2000 has no hard disk recording facilities, song files and Qlists created on an S1100,
S3200 or upgraded S3000 cannot be used.
