SAMPLE EDIT
You can use F1 to assist you find a good loop length. The FIND function looks for points of
equal amplitude. Repeated pressing of this will make the S2000 try and try again and you must
judge if the loop is acceptable or not. When you press FIND, you will see the display:
NOTE: The FIND function does not work when looping stereo samples - this is because each
side would have a different loop point and so would gradually go out of phase.

SETTING THE LOOP HOLD TIME

Normally, you will want the loop to sustain for as long as you hold a note down. However, you
may also set the loop to last a certain length of time. This is done in the next page:
The default setting for this is HOLD (i.e. the loop will last as long as you hold a note) but you
may also set it to last up to 9999 milliseconds (2 millisecond short of 10 seconds). However,
you will probably nearly always use the default of HOLD.

CROSSFADE LOOPING

To assist even further with the creation of a good loop, the next page down offers crossfade
looping:
Here, you set the length of the crossfade and F1 - EXEC - will perform the crossfade. What this
function does is to crossfade a portion of the sound before and after the loop according to the
time set in the CROSSFADE page. This will smooth out any glitches you may have. This can be
very effective in getting almost perfect loops. FIND and CROSSFADE functions are both non-
real-time editing functions and may take a few seconds or more to calculate, depending on the
length of the sample. You will see this message as the sample is processed using either
function:
The exact length of time the process takes depends on the length of the loop or the
crossfade.

permanently. Be sure to have saved your work before performing a crossfade
in case you don't like the results or you make a mistake.
NOTE: With the exception of the S900 and S950, other Akai samplers offer multiple loops.
The S1000/S1100 offers eight loops and the S3000 range offers four. The S2000 only offers
one loop. If a sample created on an S1000, S1100, S3000, S2800, S3200, S3000XL or
S3200XL is used on the S2000, the first four loops will be used but you have no access to edit
loops 2, 3 and 4. In practice, this is not a big restriction as the majority of sound library available
created on these samplers uses only one loop, LOOP 1.
