9.1 Troubleshooting Table

Problem
Unit does not power up
LCD display difficult
to read
Printer jam
Printer paper would not
self feed or advance
Print out text too dark
Keyboard buttons not

Cause
Power switch in off position. 1. Check power switch on back
No power from outlet.
Bad power cord.
Back lighting burned out.
Contrast setting out of
adjustment.
Thermal paper caught
between print head and
thermal plate when tearing
off paper.
Printer paper inserted
incorrectly, leading edge
of paper uneven or folded
over.
Paper feed button keyboard
is faulty.
Printer paper damaged
caused from excessive
heat, moisture.
Paper loaded incorrectly.

1. Call Bio-Rad service.
1. Remove excess paper
between printer head and plate
using fine tip tweezers.
2. Power down unit, remove
thermal paper roll and re-load
paper in printer.
1. Cut a straight clean leading
edge on paper with a pair of
scissors.
2. Call Bio-Rad service.
1. Replace with new paper roll.
2. Be sure the paper is installed
in the proper orientation.
3. Replace printer. Call Bio-Rad
service.
1. Power down unit/Restart unit.
1. Power down unit/Restart unit.
2. Check spreadsheet program
setup.
3. Check all connections.
1. Chamber accommodates
cuvettes up to 12.5 mm width.
2. Re-insert spring to correct
location.
3. Obtain new cuvette spring.
