If the slope or intercept has a value greater than 9999 or less than 0.0001, it will be shown
in exponential notation. In all cases with SmartSpec 3000, e represents the base 10, not the
base of the natural logarithm. For example, 100,000 would be represented as 1.000 e 05
and 0.00001 would be represented as 1.000 e-05.

From this display, press the left arrow to see the intercept again, or press the right
arrow to return to the assay.
•
When you return to the assay, SmartSpec 3000 will be ready to collect absorbance data
and to covert the absorbances into concentrations using the new standard curve.

E. Printing Standard Curves. If you choose to print a full report at the end of an assay, the
standard curve will be printed along with the information about the curve, including the
concentrations and absorbances of the standards, and the slope, intercept and correlation
coefficient of the curve.
You can choose to print the same information about a standard curve when it is first
created or when it is recalled from memory. When a standard curve is newly created the
following prompt is displayed:
Want to view info on new
STD CURVE now? No
Press Select to toggle from No to Yes and press Enter. Now you can press Print to begin
printing the standard curve. First the printer is initialized and then you are offered the
choice of printing just the graph, just the data used to create the graph, or all the
information.
Print:
2=Plot
If you choose to print both the plot and the data, the data are first printed and then you are
offered a chance to rescale the axes of the plot. You may choose to rescale the Y
(absorbance) or the X (concentration) axis, and the other axis will be automatically rescaled
at the same time.
Rescale standard curve?
NO
If you wish to rescale the axes, press Select to toggle from No to Yes and press Enter.
