SSA Connectors

The IBM Advanced SerialRAID/X Adapter has four external connectors, arranged in two
pairs. Up to 48 SSA disk drives can be connected in a loop between each pair of
external connectors. If you are not using RAID-0 arrays you can connect up to two IBM
Advanced SerialRAID/X Adapters in the SSA loop.
"Appendix A. Connecting SSA Devices to the Adapter" on page 31 provides more
information about SSA loops. Figure 1 shows the card.

Adapter Card Lights

On the IBM Advanced SerialRAID/X Adapter card, there is a light next to the pair of
SSA connectors (port 1 and port 2) for each SSA loop.
v The light is on continuously when power is turned on to the adapter and both ports
for that loop are operational; that is, the devices connected next to the adapter in the
loop have power turned on to them, are connected correctly to the adapter, and are
operational.
