There are four main steps involved:

Before starting
|

Copy the updated Uniprocessor HAL (hal.dll) for your computer obtained from the
|
Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 5 CD to a blank diskette. Add the files
|
txtsetup.oem, and halapic.tag provided in the \ntboot directory within the SSA driver
package. If your server uses a different uniprocessor HAL DLL to "halapic.dll" then also
|
edit txtsetup.oem, and change the line which begins: "hal = d1, ..." to point to the HAL
|
|
file your computer uses.
|
Note: Even if your computer is a multiprocessor server you must use the uniprocessor
|
|
Detach or disable any SCSI, IDE, or other non-SSA devices in the Server (other than
|
the CD-ROM and diskette drive). Install the IBM Advanced SerialRAID/X adapter into
further help, access the SSA Tools Menu, and describes what else the CD-ROM
contains. You should take the time to read the readme files contained in the
\docs\readme directory on the CD-ROM. They are also available in HTML format via
the SSA Tools Menu.
