1. Outline
To black out (white out) the non-image section
of using blank exposure; see p. 3-29.
To black out the non-image section for reduced
copies or section not in contact with the drum in the
DIRECT mode, the light of the pre-exposure lamp is
directed against the drum by way of the reflecting
drum.

2. Controlling the Blank Exposure Shutter
The copier uses the light from the pre-exposure
lamp to black out the non-image section in the
REDUCE mode or section not in contact with the
drum in the DIRECT mode.
