7. Adjusting the Nip (tightening the
pressure nut)
The nip width should be as shown in Table 4-l;
otherwise, turn the bolt.

a. Measuring the Nip
If the roller is cool, wait for 15 minutes after the
green; make 20 copies, and
take
measurements.
1) Open the copyboard cover, and make a solid
black copy in A3.
2) Switch the power OFF as soon as the leading
edge
of the copy comes out to the copy tray;
open the front doo and delivery unit.
3) Turn the fixing assembly knob slightly
counterclockwise; keep it for 15 seconds, and
turn the knob further to remove the copy paper
from the fixing assembly.
4) Measure the width over which the toner is shiny;
evenly in contact with the surface of the upper fixing
roller.
