Switching Unit (BSU) [IP8800/S6700]
3.20.1

Active BSU Switchover Is Disabled

If BSU cannot be switched in the redundant configuration, follow the instruction shown below.
1. Checking log
For the log, see the manual "Message Log Reference."
2. Isolating the problem according to the BSU operation status
Check the BSU operation status by using the show system command, and isolate the problem according to the
table below.

Problem
The number of BSU boards set in
configuration command redundancy
max-bsu does not match the number of
BSU boards which are to be operated as the
active BSU.
BSU boards to be standby BSU are not
installed.
Unavailable configuration has been set.
The BSU is faulty.
The inactivate bsu command is set.
The setting by Configuration command
redundancy bsu-load-balancing
smac or redundancy bsu-mode
fixed exists.
The BSU is not fully inserted.
Different types of BSUs are installed
together.
BSU not supported by the software version
is installed.
BSU not supported by this device is
installed.

Troubleshooting Functional Failures in Operation
Action
Use configuration command redundancy
max-bsu to set the number of BSU boards to be
operated as the active BSU.
Install the BSU boards.
Use configuration command fldm prefer to set
flow distribution pattern of the filter and QoS function
correctly.
Use configuration command fwdm prefer to
correctly set the distribution pattern of the maximum
number of entries per device.
According to the log of the BSU displayed by the show
logging command, see the corresponding part in
manual "Message Log Reference" and follow [Action]
described.
Use the activate bsu command to make the BSU
active, standby hot, standby cold status, or standby cold
status2.
Delete the setting by Configuration command
redundancy bsu-load-balancing smac or
redundancy bsu-mode fixed and restart the
system. For more details, see the manual
"Configuration Settings."
Install the BSU board correctly.
Unify the type of all BSU boards.
Check the BSU board type and software version.
Replace the BSU board or update the software.
Replace the BSU board.
