INTRODUCTION
Figure 4-1 is a block diagram of the teletypewriter
adapter
feature.
This
feature
is
designed primarily to attach a
teletypewriter I/O device to the processor I/O channel.
The
adapter
may
also
be
used
to
attach
other devices that
satisfy the requirements
of
the
interface.
The
feature
offers
signal
and
bit rate selectability by
(1)
using the
appropriate pins of a
16-pin
top-card
connector
and
(2)
jumpering of pins on the feature card.
The
teletypewriter
adapter
feature
has
a
4-wire
interface
for
data
exchange--2
for
receive
and
2
for
transmit.
Operation is full duplex; that is,
data
may
be
concurrently transmitted and received.
