Changing the Name of the Wireless Network (SSID)

11
Changing the Name of the Wireless Network (SSID)
If you change the name (SSID) of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater wireless
network, you can specify the wireless network of the
FRITZ!WLAN Repeater for selection on wireless devices (for example,
notebooks, tablets).
11.1
Why the Name of the Radio Network (SSID) Has To Be Changed
First
The FRITZ!WLAN Repeater is preconfigured to adopt the same
network name (SSID) as the wireless access point (FRITZ!Box)
in the WLAN Bridge operating mode.
So wireless devices find a radio network with the SSID of the
wireless access point, but no radio network that belongs only
to the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
When you select the radio network, the wireless device auto-
matically connects with the device (access point or repeater)
with the stronger wireless signal.
11.2
Configuring a Separate Radio Network Name for the
FRITZ!WLAN Repeater
To select the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater directly, assign a different
name for the radio network of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
