3.2.6.10 Platen Removal

1. Remove the left and right covers. (See Section 3.2.3.2.)
2. Remove the front panel. (See Section 3.2.3.3.)
3. Remove the upper case. (See Section 3.2.3.4.)
4. Remove the printer mechanism. (See Section 3.2.6.)
5. Remove the plunger and paper bail. (See Section 3.2.6.7.)
6. Remove the upper paper guide. (See Section 3.2.6.8.)
7. Remove the four hex screws securing the platen to the platen holders. (See Figure 3-62.)
8. Remove the platen and the lower paper guide. (See Figure 3-62.)
9. Slide the 3 parts of the lower paper guide slide out of the corresponding notches in the platen, then
remove them from the platen.

Attach the 3 parts of the lower paper guide to the platen from right to left.

There must be less than 0.0012 in. (0.03 mm) between the platen and the positioning tabs. (See
Figure 3-63.)
After installing the platen, perform the following adjustments, described in Chapter 4:

Carriage guide shaft parallelism adjustment

Platen angle (right angle) adjustment

Platen gap adjustment
