4.1 System Maintenance Introduction

If the components of the PPC series fail they must be replaced, such as the wireless LAN
module or the motherboard. Please contact the system reseller or vendor to purchase the
replacement parts. Back cover removal instructions and jumper settings for the PPC
series are described below.

4.2 Motherboard Replacement

A user cannot replace a motherboard. If the motherboard fails it must be shipped back to
RICHARDSON ELECTRONICS to be replaced. If the system motherboard has failed,
please contact the system vendor, reseller or a RICHARDSON ELECTRONICS sales
person directly.

4.3 Internal Aluminum Cover Removal

WARNING!
BEFORE REMOVING THE BACK COVER, MAKE SURE THE POWER IS
OFF. Failing to do so may lead to severe damage of PPC series and injury
to the body.
WARNING!
PLEASE TAKE ANTISTATIC PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH
THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS. The interior of the PPC series contains
very sensitive electronic components. These components are easily
damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Before working with the internal
components make sure all the anti-static precautions described earlier
have been observed.
