until the file transfer completes or fails. Upon completion or failure of file transfer a
message is displayed.

HTTP File Download

Use the HTTP File Download screen to download files of various types to the switch using an
HTTP session (for example, via your web browser).
To download a file to the switch from by using HTTP:

1. Select Maintenance > Download > HTTP File Download.
2. From the File Type list, select the type of file you want to download to the switch.

• Archive. Software image file.
Note: The system always downloads the software image to the non-active
image.
• Text Configuration. A text-based configuration file.
Note: The configuration is downloaded to the startup configuration, following
which the device automatically reboots to this new configuration. A
message indicating this behavior is displayed and must be confirmed.
3. In the Select File field, enter the name of the file that you want to download or click Choose
File to open a file upload window to locate the file.
4. Click the Apply button to initiate the file download.
Note: After a file transfer is started, wait until the screen refreshes. When
the screen refreshes, the Select File option is blanked out. This
indicates that the file transfer is done.

USB File Download

Use the USB File Upload screen to download a file to the switch from a USB device
connected to the USB port on device front panel.
