Authentication Protocol: The authentication mechanism in SNMPv3
assures that a received message was, in fact, transmitted by the authorized
SNMPv3 user. Protocols used to authenticate SNMPv3 users includes
Message Digest 5(MD5 or Secure Hash Algorithm(SHA).
Authentication Password: This creates an "Authentication Password" for
SNMPv3 users. The pass phrases be at least eight characters long.
Privacy Protocol: The SNMPv3 privacy facility enables managers and
agents to encrypt messages to prevent eavesdropping by third parties. Here
manager entity and agent entity must share a secret key. All the traffic
between them is encrypted using the Data Encryption Standard (DES).
Privacy Password: This sets the DES pass phrase to the SNMPv3 users
which should be at least eight characters long.
