Step 10 (intermediate transfer drum cleaning)
In this step, different biases are applied to the intermediate transfer drum and the pho-
tosensitive drum to return the residual toner (charged to a uniform potential by the clean-
ing roller) existing on the intermediate transfer drum back to the photosensitive drum. The
resulting difference in potential between the photosensitive drum and the intermediate
transfer drum causes the residual toner to move from the intermediate transfer drum to
the transfer drum.
