D21 CHECK THE 4WD AND 2WD VACUUM SOLENOIDS — CLOSED CONDITION
D22 CHECK THE 4WD AND 2WD VACUUM SOLENOIDS — OPEN CONDITION

D23 CHECK THE VACUUM FEED LINES FROM THE VACUUM MOTOR

D24 CHECK THE VACUUM MOTOR — AXLE ENGG ON AND AXLE DSCN OFF

REPAIR the vacuum feed line in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Disconnect the 4WD and 2WD vacuum solenoid vacuum lines.
Connect a vacuum pump to the feed line of the vacuum solenoid being tested.
Monitor the PIDs 2WDSOL and 4WDSOL.
NOTE: The active commands AXLE ENGG and AXLE DSCN are located in the 4-Wheel Electronic Shift active
command menu.
Toggle the active command AXLE ENGG and AXLE DSCN to OFF.
Apply vacuum and verify the vacuum solenoids are closed.
Are the vacuum solenoids closed?
Yes
RELEASE the applied vacuum. GO to
D22
.
No
REPLACE the vacuum solenoid in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
NOTE: The active commands AXLE ENGG and AXLE DSCN are located in the 4-Wheel Electronic Shift active
command menu.
Toggle the active command AXLE ENGG and AXLE DSCN to ON.
Apply vacuum and verify the vacuum solenoids are open.
Are the vacuum solenoids open?
Yes
RELEASE the applied vacuum. GO to
D23
.
No
REPLACE the vacuum solenoid in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Verify the feed lines from the vacuum solenoids to the vacuum motor are OK.
Are the feed lines OK?
Yes
GO to D24.
No
REPAIR the feed line(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Remove the linkage from the vacuum motor.
Reconnect all electrical and vacuum connectors.
NOTE: The active commands AXLE ENGG and AXLE DSCN are located in the 4-Wheel Electronic Shift active
command menu.
Toggle the active command AXLE ENGG to ON and AXLE DSCN to OFF.
Does the vacuum motor move to the engaged position?
Yes
GO to
D25
.
No
