B57 CHECK THE SHIFT MOTOR

Clear the DTCs
Transfer Case Assembly
PINPOINT TEST C: THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT BETWEEN 4WD HIGH AND 4WD LOW MODES PROPERLY
NOTE: Complete the entire pinpoint test related to the symptom before replacing the GEM.
CONDITIONS
C1 CHECK THE IGNITION STATES — MONITOR THE PID IGN_GEM

Is any voltage indicated?
Yes
REPAIR circuit 763 (O/W). CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition to OFF, then ON. TEST the system for normal
operation.
No
REPLACE the GEM; REFER to Section 419-10. CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition to OFF, then ON. TEST
the system for normal operation.
Remove the shift motor; refer to Section 308-07B.
Monitor the PIDs PLATE_A, PLATE_B, PLATE_C, and PLATE_D.
Place the mode switch in the 2H position and compare the PIDs to Table 4 — Contact Plate Sensor Position
Codes.
Place the mode switch in the 4H position and compare the PIDs to Table 4 — Contact Plate Sensor Position
Codes.
Do the PIDs agree with Table 4?
Yes
Diagnose an internal transfer case concern; REFER to
No
REPLACE the shift motor. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
