Measure the resistance between mode switch terminals 2 and 3 while rotating the mode switch through all
positions; refer to the following chart:
Switch Position Resistance Range
2H 3705-4095 ohms
A4WD 1425-1575 ohms
4H 646-714 ohms
4L 228-252 ohms
Are the resistances within specifications?
Yes
GO to C7.
No
REPLACE the mode switch. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Measure the resistance between mode switch C230-3, circuit 780 (DB), and GEM C241-8, circuit 780 (DB).
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to C8.
No
REPAIR circuit 780 (DB). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Measure the resistance between GEM C241-8, circuit 780 (DB), and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to C9.
No
REPAIR circuit 780 (DB). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
