Choosing the Location

5.
(Optional) Wire the HTRD4GPS module, if installed. Refer to the
Installation Application Note
6.
Install the HTCD Digital Camera(s).
7.
Connect the HTRD400 Recorder to the HTCD Digital Camera(s) using the CAT5
straight data/power cables supplied.
8.
Install the Toolbox and Player software on the PC or laptop that you will use with the
HTRD400 Recorder (see
Installation).
9.
Connect the PC or laptop to the COMPUTER port on the front panel of the HTRD400
Recorder (see
Chapter 4, PC to HTRD400 Recorder
Caution
Do not connect the PC or laptop to any of the CAMERAS ONLY ports
on the recorder rear panel to avoiding damaging your equipment.
10. Start the Toolbox application and use the HTRD400 System Setup Wizard to
configure the HTRD400 system for desired operation (see
Configuration). The HTRD400 System Setup Wizard helps you:

Configure a recorder
b.
Configure triggers
c.
Configure cameras, including aiming and focusing
d.
(Optional) Enable GPS data gathering, if supported
e.
Set up record rules
f.
Set up user accounts and passwords
11. Upload the configuration to the HTRD400 Recorder.
Choose a location for installation of the HTRD400 Recorder that:
Provides convenient access for connecting a PC or laptop for viewing and archiving
images
Allows air to flow around the fan vents. Inadequate or improper air flow can impede
proper operation of the unit.
Conforms with local regulatory guidelines
Avoid any location for installation:
That is subject to high vibration
That is subject to high sunlight levels
Where passengers can interfere with the unit
Next to a heater duct
for more detailed information.
