Life Fitness 9100/9500HR Belt Drive Stairclimbers
How To... REMOVE AND REPLACE ALTERNATOR BELT
Tools Required: 9/16 wrench and socket, ¾ inch wrench and socket, 5/16 socket, straight blade and phillips
screwdriver, E-ring tool long nose pliers, and belt tension gauge.
Step 1
Turn the power OFF, Disconnect the power cord from the outlet.
Step 2
Remove the HOUSING. (See "How To...")
Step 3
Prop up the PEDAL LEVERS to relieve the BELTS tension.
Step 4
With a 3/4" wrench, loosen but do not remove the ALTERNATOR LOCK NUT on the ALTERNATOR PIVOT BOLT.
Step 5
With a 1/2" wrench, loosen but do not remove the ALTERNATOR ADJUSTMENT BOLT. Rotate the ALTERNATOR
enough to remove the tension from the BELT.
Step 6
Use a 5/16" wrench to loosen the (3) SCREWS on the right side of the CROSS PLATE secured to the top of the
right BEARING BRACKET.
Step 7
Remove the retainer bracket off the right Termination Sprocket.
Step 8
Remove Termination Sprocket and lay the belt aside.
Step 9
With an E-ring tool, remove the E-RING clip from around the Clutch Assembly.
Step 10
Remove the clutch assembly. Note the directional arrow on the face of the clutch. Also note the large and small
thrust washers. The large thrust washer goes behind the clutch assembly while the small thrust washer goes under
the E-clip.
Step 11
Using ¾ inch socket and wrench, remove the 2 right pillow block mounting bolts from the right Bearing Bracket.
Step 12
Remove three Mounting bolts securing the right Bearing Bracket Plate to the frame and then remove the right
Bearing Bracket Plate.
Step 13
Remove the alternator belt from the main pulley. Maneuver the belt out between the frame and the alternator pulley.
Install the new belt in the reverse order. Using a belt tension gauge, adjust the tesion to 120 ft. lbs.
