Problem
Cannot select or use
the STUDIO-CAPTURE
device
No sound is heard
from the computer's
speakers
The sound played
by the computer is
inaudible or too quiet
Items to Check
Was the STUDIO-CAPTURE connected to the
computer while the computer was starting
up?
Windows 8/Windows 7/
Windows Vista
Are you using the Music (Windows 8) or
Media Player included with Windows?
Mac OS X
Have you configured "Audio MIDI Setup"?
Windows XP
Could you be using a multichannel WDM
audio port?
Could the STUDIO-CAPTURE's "VS EXPAND"
setting be "ON"?
This is not a malfunction .
Can you hear sound by connecting
headphones?
Is the [MONITOR OUT LEVEL] knob of the
STUDIO-CAPTURE turned down?
In the STUDIO-CAPTURE Control Panel's
monitor mixer control screen, could MUTE
be turned on?
Is the volume of the DAW monitor set
appropriately?
Action
Connect the STUDIO-CAPTURE after the
computer has started up . With some
computers, the STUDIO-CAPTURE cannot
be used if it is connected to the computer
while the computer is starting up .
Use different software .
MIDI devices cannot be selected in Media
Player .
Configure Audio MIDI Setup (p . 56) .
If you want to select INPUT 3–16/OUTPUT
3–10 jacks as input/output destinations,
disable the multichannel WDM audio port
(p . 55) .
Turn the "VS EXPAND" setting "OFF, " and
turn the STUDIO-CAPTURE's power off,
then on again (p . 43) .
When using the STUDIO-CAPTURE, no
sound is heard from the computer's
speakers .
Connect headphones or an audio
playback system (external monitors) to the
STUDIO-CAPTURE .
If you can hear sound through headphones
connected to the PHONES 1, 2 jacks, check
that you have correctly connected your
audio playback system (external monitors),
and adjust the volume of our equipment .
If the sound in your headphones is
inaudible or too soft, check the other
troubleshooting items .
Use the STUDIO-CAPTURE's [MONITOR
OUT LEVEL] knob to adjust the volume .
In the STUDIO-CAPTURE Control Panel (p .
34), check whether Mute might be turned
on .
Use the STUDIO-CAPTURE Control Panel
(p . 34) to view and adjust the volume of the
DAW monitor .
