Step 4: Start the ft series Setup

Have you done the following preparations before starting ft series setup?
Initialize Hard Disks
Are hard disk drives initialized?
Prepare NEC Express5800/ft series
Are all optional PCI boards removed?
Are all PCI modules (for Group1/for Group2) and CPU modules (for Group1/for Group2)
mounted?
Is a hard disk drive in the slot1 of the PCI module for Group1 the only hard disk drive mounted on
the server?
Are all LAN cables removed?
Are optional SCSI devices including tape device removed from the internal SCSI connector?
Is the PCI module for Group1 the primary module?
Setting of Boot Monitoring Function
Is the setting of Boot Monitoring Function disabled?
When you have done preparations, follow the steps below to perform ft series setup.
When you have not done preparations, see the following sections and prepare for ft series
setup.
Step 2 Prepare for ft series Setup
Step 3 Disable Boot Monitoring Function
IMPORTANT:
(page 4-12), BIOS will be restarted forcefully while Windows setup screen is shown and
the setup will be unsuccessful; BIOS may repeat Windows setup in an invalid manner. In
such case, you will need to restart the setup procedures from the beginning.
<Procedure for ft series setup>
1. Turn on the NEC Express5800/ft series.
2. Insert the NEC EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the server.
IMPORTANT:
Group1's CD-ROM drive.
3. When having inserted the CD-ROM correctly, reset the system (press Ctrl, Alt and Delete
together), or turn the power off and then turn it on to restart the NEC Express5800/ft series.
The system starts through the CD-ROM, and NEC EXPRESSBUILDER is activated.
If you skip the settings of Step 3 "Disable Boot Monitoring Function"
