Adjusting
the
sound
Your TV allows you to customize
and adjust
the settings
of its
audio functions.
This section
gives you desc:dprJons
of each audio
function,
then explains
how to adjust
the functions.

functions
The "Listen
to" function
allows you to determine
how your TV will
receive an audio signal and play back the sound that you hear. You
can set this function
to "Stereo,"
"S.A.P,"
alad "Mono."
• For almost
all situations,
you should choose "Stereo."
With this
setting,
the TV will play ,_tereo broadc.asts
in stereo
and mono
broadcasts
in mono. If a channel
is broadcasting
in stereo, the
word "Stereo"
will be displayed
when you tune to that channel.
• Some TV stations
will broadcast
a separate
audio programming,
or S.A.P.,
signal. This si_,mal is an additional
soundtl:ack
that
you can't hear during
normal
TV viex_4ng. An S.A.P. sigrLal
might be related
to the program
you are watching
(e.g., a
soundtrack
in a foreign ]angm_ge),
or it might be unrelated
(e.g.,
a weather
report).
If a channel
is broadcasting
an S.A.P. signal,
the letters
"SAP" will appear
on-screen
when you tune to that
channel.
Choose "Listen
to: SAP" to hear the S.A.P. signal.
• Use the "Mono"
setting
if you are receiving
a weak audio
signal.
This setting
will reduce background
noise. However,
with this setting,
the TV will only play in mono, even if the
program
you are watching
is in stereo.
The "Bass"
function
pro_ides
a scale that controls
the volume of
low frequency
sound.
The "Treble"
function
provides
a scale that controls
the vo]Lume of
high frequency
sound.
The "Balance"
function
provides
a scale_ that adjusts
the level of
sound between
the left and right speakers
Adjust the scale until
tlhe sound seems to come equally
from both speakers.
The "Audio
expansion"
function
creates a stereo
effect when you
are watching
a non-stereo
program.
You can turn this function
on
or off.
• Select "On" if you are watchi:ng
a non-stereo
progra:m.
• Select "Off'
if you are watching
a stereo program.
The "Level
sound"
keeps the volume of the 'IV from suddenly
changing
when you change
channels
or switch inputs.
You can turn
this function
to on or off.
• Select "On" if you want
the _
to keep the volume near a
certain
level, even when you change

or switch inputs.
• Select "Off' if you want the TV to play the volume of each
channel
or input
as it is broadcast.
