Solving Disk Problems

Common causes and solutions for disk problems are listed in the following
table:
NOTE: You may need to reconfigure the workstation when you add or remove
hardware, such as an additional diskette drive. See "Solving Hardware
Installation Problems" for instructions.

Solving Disk Problems
Cause
Diskette is damaged.
Diskette is incorrectly inserted.
Drive button is not pushed in.
Software program is damaged.
Drive cable is not properly
connected.
Diskette is not formatted.
Diskette is write-protected.
Writing to the wrong drive.
Solution
In Windows NT Workstation 4.0, run
Scan Disk. Click Start; then select
Programs, DiskTools, ScanDisk.
Remove diskette and reinsert.
Push in drive button.
Check the program diskettes.
Reconnect drive cable.
Format the diskette.
Use another diskette or remove the
write protection.
Check the drive letter in your path
statement.
