This chapter shows you how to configure static routes for your ZyXEL device.
9.1 Static Route Overview
Each remote node specifies only the network to which the gateway is directly connected, and
the ZyXEL device has no knowledge of the networks beyond. For instance, the ZyXEL device
knows about network N2 in the following figure through remote node router R1. However, the
ZyXEL device is unable to route a packet to network N3 because it doesn't know that there is a
route through the same remote node router R1 (via gateway router R2). The static routes are
for you to tell the ZyXEL device about the networks beyond the remote nodes.
