The following table describes the general wireless LAN fields in this screen.
LABEL
ESSID (Extended Service Set IDentity) The ESSID identifies the Service Set with which a wireless
station is associated. Wireless stations associating to the access point (AP) must have the
same ESSID. Enter a descriptive name (up to 32 printable 7-bit ASCII characters) for the
wireless LAN.
If you are configuring the ZyAIR from a computer connected to the wireless LAN and you
change the ZyAIR's ESSID or WEP settings, you will lose your wireless connection when you
click Apply. You must then change the wireless settings of your computer to match the
ZyAIR's new settings.
Channel Select a channel from the drop-down list box depending on your particular region.
Security Select Disable to allow wireless devices to communicate with the ZyAIR without any data
encryption.
Select WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) to have the ZyAIR perform user authentication and
data encryption. WPA's data encryption is stronger than WEP.
Select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy to have the ZyAIR encrypt data frames before
transmitting them over the wireless network. Select the check box to enable WEP data
encryption. Then configure the WEP keys.
WPA
Group Key The Group Key Rekeying field sets how often the AP (if using WPA-PSK key management)
Rekeying or RADIUS server (if using WPA key management) sends a new group key out to all clients.
The re-keying process is the WPA equivalent of automatically changing the WEP key for an
AP and all stations in a WLAN on a periodic basis. Setting of the WPA Group Key Update
Timer is also supported in WPA-PSK mode. The default is 8,600 seconds.
Use WPA with Select this radio button to use a pre-shared key for WPA. Type a pre-shared key from 8 to 63
Pre-shared Key case-sensitive ASCII characters (including spaces and symbols).
Use WPA with Select this radio button to use a RADIUS server to authenticate the wireless clients.
RADIUS Server
Server Enter the external authentication server's IP address (in dotted decimal notation) or domain
IP/Domain name.
Authentication You need not change this value unless your network administrator instructs you to do so with
Port additional information.
Shared Secret Enter a password (up to 31 alphanumeric characters) as the key to be shared between the
Key external authentication server and the ZyAIR.
The key is not sent over the network. This key must be the same on the external
authentication server and the ZyAIR.
WEP
Encryption Select 64-bit or 128-bit for the WEP key length.
Mode Select the type of input mode from the drop-down list box. Choices are HEX and ASCII.
Select ASCII to enter the WEP keys as ASCII characters.
Select HEX to enter the WEP keys as hexadecimal characters.
