v See Chapter 3, "Parts listing, Types 4190, 4191 and 4194 server," on page 31 to determine which
components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units
(FRU).
v If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.

Description
Critical SMBUS error occurred.
Action
1. Disconnect the power cord, wait 30
seconds, and retry.
2. Reseat the following components:
a. (Trained service technician only)
Microprocessor
b. DIMMs
c. Hard disk drives
d. Hard disk drive backplane or back
plate
e. Power cable to the hard disk drive
backplane or back plate
f. Signal cable to the hard disk drive
backplane (SAS drives only)
3. Replace the following components one at
a time, in the order shown, restarting the
server each time:
a. DIMMs
b. Riser-card assembly
c. PCI Express adapters (if installed)
d. Hard disk drives
e. Hard disk drive backplane or back
plate
f. Power cable to the hard disk drive
backplane or back plate
g. Signal cable to the hard disk drive
backplane (SAS drives only)
h. (Trained service technician only)
Microprocessor
i. (Trained service technician only)
System board
