Shutting down the system to add or replace hardware

Shut down the Contivity 5000 and unplug it to install or replace any of these field
replaceable units:
To replace the primary hard disk drive, shut down the system as described in this
section. However, you do not need to unplug the chassis to replace a hard drive.

Fan tray
Caution: Shut down the Contivity 5000 as described in this section
before you attempt to add or replace option cards, DIMMs, fan trays, or
hard disk drives.
Use the Web GUI or the command line interface to shut down the gateway.
Web GUI: Choose Admin > Shutdown. Select the option to power off the
gateway after shutdown.
Command line interface: Use the
system. For example, enter
"Upgrade hardware"

Wait for the system to shut down. You may need to wait several minutes.
Disconnect the two power cords from the power outlets and then disconnect
the cords from the Contivity 5000.
The power receptacles are located on the rear of the Contivity 5000 (see
Figure 8 on page
35).
Danger: Make sure to turn off the Contivity 5000 and unplug both
power cords before you attempt to remove or install an option card,
DIMM, or fan tray.
