If you have one Nortel Messaging server that manages messages for one
7
Communication Server server, specify a VPIM setting as follows:
If you do not use a VPIM, leave the default VPIM setting None to
omit the VPIM from the login process.
If you use a single VPIM for all users, choose Administrator
Provided and enter the VPIM.
If you have one Nortel Messaging server that manages messages for
multiple Communication Server servers, specify a VPIM setting as
follows:
If you want users to specify a VPIM, choose User Provided from
the VPIM Setting menu. When an IP telephone user logs into
Visual Voicemail, the user will be prompted for a VPIM, along
with the telephone extension and PIN.
If your configuration is such that you want to use a default VPIM
for all telephones accessing this Application Gateway, choose
Administrator Provided from the VPIM Setting menu and enter
the VPIM of the Communication Server server whose messages
the Application Gateway will access through Nortel Messaging. IP
telephone users will only need to enter their extension and PIN

this Application Gateway to a particular VPIM.
To enable message forwarding:
8
Specify the IP address and port of your Unified Messaging SMTP
a
server. SMTP is the outgoing mail server, typically running on the
same server as IMAP.
Specify the server that stores the destination email addresses in the
b
Email attributes field. Typically, you will select the Alternate
Address Server (LDAP) checkbox in order to specify the LDAP
directory server, such as a PBX, that has the email addresses to be used
for message forwarding.
If you do not select the Alternate Address Server (LDAP) checkbox,
messages will be forwarded using email addresses stored in the server
defined on the Directory page. Messages will be forwarded using the
settings for Source 1 or, if the directory sources are combined, to the
settings for the combined sources.
