Replacing a GBIC
You may add or replace the GBIC while keeping NEB1G-1B, NEBH1G-4C, or
NEBH1G-4E network interface boards inserted into a chassis with the power on.
Follow the procedures below when you want to replace the GBIC without switching
off the router.
5.5.1
Detaching a GBIC
Step 1.
Issue the following command from your operation terminal to stop
operation of the Ethernet port.
Note: For information about a slot/port number of a network interface, see "Chapter 1,

Component Overview."
Step 2.
If necessary, delete the appropriate configuration information.
Make sure that the indicator "GBIC DIS LED" on the NEB1G-1B, or the

"GBIC LED" on the NEBH1G-4C, or NEBH1G-4E, is lit in yellow and remove
the GBIC as in Section 4.7, "Attaching and Detaching the GBIC" on page
4-24.

Attaching a GBIC
Step 1.
Attach the GBIC to a network interface board by referring to Section 4.7,
"Attaching and Detaching the GBIC" on page 4-24.
Step 2.
Issue the following command from your operation terminal to start
operation of the Ethernet port.

Step 3.
If necessary, add the appropriate configuration information.
