3.
In humid environments, keep media sealed in packaging until it is needed for
printing. Flip over the media in the tray.
4.
Ensure the 525-Sheet Feeder Tray (lower tray) assembly pick roller is installed
correctly.
5.
Clean the pick roller using the cleaning procedures. Paper dust can coat the pick
roller and affect its ability to grip the paper and pull it out of the tray. Also clean
the transport rollers if they are visibly dirty.
6.
Check that the pick roller is being rotated. Use diagnostics to check the operation
of the paper-pick and to verify roller operation.
7.
Replace the pick roller.
8.
Inspect the rollers, bushings and gears of the paper path.

Preheater and transfix jams

1.
If a piece of paper is trapped in the paper preheater, try pushing out the paper by
inserting a stiff piece of cardstock into the paper preheater.
2.
Using diagnostics, test the paper preheater sensors. If the test fails, replace the
preheater assembly.
3.
Check that the feed rollers rotate smoothly and that the front cover is fully closed
and seated.
4.
Check the paper-eject path for obstructions. Ensure no small pieces of paper are
trapped around the paper release blade.
5.
Ensure that the transfix roller rotates during the transfix process.
6.
Test the sensors in the paper path. Look for damaged or non-operating sensor
flags.
7.
Check the transfix solenoid.
8.
Check for ink shards on top of the preheater next to the flag (see page 8-22).

Checking the process motor and drive train

1.
Determine if the process motor runs. If it does not rotate, go to Step 2. If it does
rotate, go to Step ?.
2.
Measure to determine if +50 VDC is being supplied to the motor. If power is
applied, go to Step 3. If it is not, inspect the process motor's wiring harness. If the
harness is functional, then troubleshoot the power control board and power
supply. Refer back to the topic, "Measuring power supply voltages" on
page 4-74.
