This section tells how to maximize battery operating time.

levels or while the computer is connected to an external power

Configuring the System
To set up the system for extended battery operating time:
Select the High battery conservation level. (Refer to
"Customizing Power Settings" in Chapter 4.)
Select a low screen brightness. (Refer to the table in "Using
Hotkeys" in Chapter 3.)
Select a short screen save timeout. (Refer to "Customizing
Power Settings" in Chapter 4.)
Enable the system to turn off PC Card modems when they are
not in use. (Refer to "Customizing Power Settings" in
Chapter 4.)
Disconnect external equipment that does not use an external
power source when you are not using it.
Using the Computer
To extend battery operating time while using the computer:
Allow a battery pack to fully charge before removing external
power from the computer.
Initiate Hibernation or Suspend if you will not be using the
computer for several hours.
Exit modem programs when you are not using them.
Remove PC Cards that you are not using.
