Setting the Mode Switches
B.3
SETTING THE MODE SWITCHES
Figure B-2
shows the location of the mode switches and the switch settings for normal operation.
These switches are set at the factory and rarely need to be changed.
Switch definitions and positions are as follows:
•
Switches 1 through 6 – Reserved for future use.
•
Switch 7 – Clear NVRAM. Changing the position of this device resets NVRAM on the next
power-up of the device. All user-entered parameters, such as the IP address, device names, etc.,
are reset to the factory default settings. Once the device resets, you can either use the factory
default settings or reenter your own parameters.
•
Switch 8 – Reset Password/Community Names. Changing the position of this switch clears
user-entered passwords stored in NVRAM, and restores the factory default passwords on the
next power-up of the device. Once the device resets, you can either use the factory default
settings or reenter your own passwords.
NOTE: Do not change the position of switch 8 unless it is necessary to reset the device
super-user configured passwords to their factory default settings.
