Before installing the 1G58x-09, review the requirements and specifications referred to in this
chapter concerning the following:

Port Trunking feature

10BASE-T Twisted Pair network
100BASE-TX Twisted Pair network
100BASE-FX Multimode Fiber-Optic network
1000BASE-SX/LX Fiber-Optic network
1000BASE-T Twisted Pair network
CAUTION: The network installation must meet the requirements to ensure satisfactory
performance of this equipment. Failure to do so will produce poor network performance.
NOTE: The Matrix E1 Series (1G58x-09 and 1H582-xx) Configuration Guide and
Cabling Guide referred to in the following sections can be found on the Enterasys
Networks World Wide Web site:

PORT TRUNKING FEATURE
Before connecting the device to a network so it can take advantage of the Port Trunking feature,
there are certain rules concerning port connections and configurations that must be followed for
proper operation. Refer to the Matrix E1 Series (1G58x-09 and 1H582-xx) Configuration Guide for
additional information.

10BASE-T NETWORK

When connecting a 10BASE-T twisted pair segment to one of the fixed ports (1 through 6), or to an
optional Ethernet expansion module, ensure that the network meets the Ethernet network
requirements of the IEEE 802.3 standard for 10BASE-T. Refer to the Cabling Guide for details.
