Rocker Arm Assembly and Push Rod
1. Remove the rocker arm bracket mounting nuts, and remove the
rocker arm assembly (1).
2. Remove the push rods (2).
(When reassembling)
• Insert the push rods into the tappets securely.
• Adjust the valve clearance. (See page S-60.)
• Apply engine oil to the rocker arm bracket nuts.
And tighten them.

Cylinder Head and Tappet
1. Loosen the pipe band, and remove the water return pipe.
2. Remove the cylinder head screws in the order of [10], [14] or [18]
to [1] and remove the cylinder head.
3. Remove the cylinder head gasket and O-ring (1).
4. Remove the tappets (2) from the crankcase.
(When reassembling)
• Replace the head gasket with a new one.
• Before installing the tappets, apply engine oil thinly around them.
• Install the cylinder head, using care not to damage the O-ring (1).
• Tighten the cylinder head screw gradually screw in the order of
[1] to [10], [14] or [18] after applying engine oil.
• Retighten the cylinder head screw after running the engine for 30
minutes.
NOTE

• Mark the cylinder number to the tappets to prevent
interchanging.
• When reusing the head bolt, apply engine oil to its thread
(when use a new head bolt "rust-preventive oil applied", use
it without applying engine oil to it) and seat surface before
fitting it. After installing the engine, let it run for 30 minutes,
and retighten the head bolt. (Before retightening it loosen it
by 0.52 to 0.79 rad. (30 to 90).)
