Information on Honda IMA System
Honda IMA (Integrated Motor
Assist) System provides you with
POWER CONTROL UNIT (PCU) IMA BATTERY (158 Volt) better fuel economy. An electric
motor assists the vehicle's gasoline
engine when accelerating, and
reduces the load on the engine to
12 VOLT BATTERY
improve the fuel economy. In normal
driving, only the gasoline engine is
running. When decelerating, turning
wheels activates the electric motor,
and generates electric power to
charge the IMA battery. When you
come to stop, an Auto Idle Stop
function shuts off the engine under
certain conditions (see page 208 ).
The IMA battery's voltage is
extremely high (158 volt). This
battery is located behind the rear
seat-back and there are no
maintenance tasks you can safely
ORANGE CABLE perform. Never try to remove or
