Backup Receiver Operation (Private LAN only)

In an installation with two 7810iR-ents, one is configured as primary receiver and the other
as backup receiver. Each subscriber (7845i-ent) in the system is configured with IP
addresses of both primary and backup 7810iR-ent in the system.

Normal Operation

All normal reporting is done to primary receiver. All registration, re-registration, status,
alarm messages are sent to primary receiver.
All registration and-registration messages received by primary receiver are forwarded to
backup receiver. Any subscriber editing such as delete actions is also forwarded to
backup receiver. This mechanism keeps subscriber database in backup receiver up to
date.
The primary receiver provides a user interface to force update to backup receiver
subscriber database.
The primary receiver periodically requests the state of the backup receiver subscriber
database. If backup receiver database is detected to be out of synch then primary
receiver updates backup receiver subscriber database.

Failure Mode Operation

If the subscriber (7845i-ent) loses communication with the primary receiver and the
backup receiver exists then all the alarms are forwarded to the backup receiver. This
mechanism allows uninterrupted delivery of alarms.
The subscriber (7845i-ent) keeps trying to re-establish communication with the primary
receiver.
Supervise Subs' option is available from the Secondary CS. If this option is enabled and
7845i-Ent is programmed for Full Rate supervision backup receiver supervises
subscriber and "Com Failed" alarm is generated. If "Supervise Subs" is disabled on
Secondary CS, the backup receiver does not supervise subscriber.
When the primary receiver has failed, new subscribers can't be added to system.
When the failed primary receiver is replaced with new primary receiver, subscribers can
be recovered using Recovery Mode. The primary receiver can also request the subscriber
database from the backup receiver. The backup receiver sends the complete subscriber
database to the primary receiver.
