Status displays of the hard disk drives in a RAID1 system
A defective hard disk drive in the RAID1 system is signaled with the status displays at the
front of the device.
The following tables include information on the alarms of the status displays. If the hard disk
drive is defective and the SIMATIC monitoring software is installed, the LEDs of the status
display light up individually or simultaneously.

Mounting locations for hard disk drives in the RAID5 system
Contrary to a RAID1 system, hard disk drives for a RAID5 system can only be installed on
the front in the removable drive bays.
Note
The replacement of a hard disk drive with removable drive bays and in the RAID system can
be performed without shutting down the device.
The new hard disk drive can be integrated into the RAID5 system at operating system level
with the RAID software. Synchronization may take several hours, depending on system load.
