Mounting position
Open devices
Compact Field Units are open equipment. This means that they may only be installed in
enclosures (which includes cabinets or electrical equipment rooms), whereby these
enclosures may only be accessible via keys or a tool. The enclosures may only be accessed
by instructed or approved personnel.
The Compact Field Unit is installed horizontally or vertically:
● Horizontally (connector slot X2 on the right)
● Vertically (connector slot X2 at the top)
Technical setup
The Compact Field Unit is mounted on a mounting rail.
You can find information about the mounting rail in section "Overview of the components
(Page 14)".
To ensure mounting without problems sufficient clearance must be left below and above the
modules.
You can find additional information in section "Minimum clearances in the control cabinet
(Page 148)".
If you integrate the SIMATIC CFU PA bundle with aluminum housing into the system, the
required distances are taken into account.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
To maintain the EMC, note the following:
● EMC-compliant routing of the cables (including within cabinets!)
● Route signal cables separately from cables with voltages > 60 V or high currents
● Avoid the proximity of large electrical installations.
