Automated name assignment during device replacement
The following scenarios arise when replacing one of the two components as a result of saving
the device name on the BusAdapter and the CFU:
BusAdapter unprog‐
rammed
(no device name)
BusAdapter with de‐
vice name

Replacing the CFU
Requirements
● The CFU is de-energized.
● The connected field devices' own supply is switched off.
● The replacement device is in delivery state. You can find information on this in section
"Restoring the state of delivery (Page 107)".
Replacing the CFU during process operation
If you are using the CFU in a hazardous area, you must observe the following sections:
● Section "Use in hazardous areas (Page 24)"
● Section "Compact Field Unit in the enclosure for use in a hazardous area (Page 109)"

Device names not programmed
When the supply voltage is switched on, the device name is copied from the
BusAdapter to the CFU.
Note:
When a faulty BusAdapter is replaced, make certain that the replacement
BusAdapter has no device name.
Interface with device name
When the supply voltage is switched
on, the device name is copied from
the CFU to the BusAdapter.
