TRANSMISSION FOLLOWING MANUAL DIALLING
When a document is inserted in the document feeder, the machine waits for you to dial the destination fax
number. The procedure for transmission by manual dialling is as follows:
•
By dialling the destination fax number on the telephone and pressing START.
•
By dialling the destination fax number on the keypad of the fax machine and pressing START.
•
By pressing HOOK, dialling the destination fax number on the fax machine keypad and pressing
START.
Transmission by any of the manual dialling procedures is described in the earlier section: BASIC
FUNCTIONS in the heading: Document transmission . The following chart describes the procedure in more
detail.

The display shows the initial operating mode.
1.
Insert the document face down, without forcing it, in the slot of
the document feeder. Adjust the guides to the width of the paper.
The arrow on the display points to STD to indicate that standard
resolution is selected.

you want to change the resolution, see the heading: Adjusting
the contrast and resolution of transmitted documents .
2.
Dial the fax number:
− From the telephone: lift the telephone handset, wait for the
dialling tone and then dial the number on the telephone. The
display will show the relative message.
or
− Dial the fax number from the keypad of the fax machine.
or
− Press HOOK and dial the fax number on the keypad of the
fax machine. Wait for the dialling tone. In this case the
machine will reproduce the dialling tones on the line.
IF...
•
the fax is connected to a private switchboard and an external
number must be dialled, press the EXT. key before dialling the
number. The letter "e" external will appear on the display.
•
the external number comprises one or more codes, dial them
as normal, and where required, press PAUSE to set a time
delay between the code digits and those of the number. In this
condition, the letter "p" is displayed.
•
it is necessary to wait for a tone from the exchange before
dialling the entire number, press the 2 TONE key. In this case,
the ":" symbol will appear on the display.
