ADJUSTING THE CONTRAST AND RESOLUTION OF TRANSMITTED DOCUMENTS

Before sending a fax you can make certain adjustments to optimise reading of the document by the optical
scanner and hence the print quality at the receiving station.
You can adjust the contrast to obtain lighter or darker tones by means of the CONTR. key and adjust the
resolution of the image or text by means of the RESOL. key to obtain improved character definition by
setting higher or lower resolution depending on the type of text or images in the document.
ADJUSTING THE CONTRAST:
CONTR.
To select the various settings press CONTR.
ADJUSTING THE RESOLUTION:
RESOL.
To select the various settings press RESOL.
The HALF TONES setting enables the fax machine to distinguish the grey shades in a photograph.
This setting optimises the distribution of grey tones in the image and it is automatically accompanied
by the FINE setting so that when one is selected then also the other is selected.
If a page contains both text and graphic images, the machine is capable of distinguishing between
them and will optimise reproduction of the text through the FINE setting and the images through the
HALF TONES setting.
Contrast and/or resolution variations during a transmission or copying operation take effect from the
sheet immediately after the sheet currently being scanned. A variation is only possible in the document
reading phase.
