POOR PERFORMANCE AT LOW AND IDLE SPEED
1. Pilot Screw Inspection
Check carbu retor pilot screw adjustment.
Is the adjustment correct?
NO _ . See page 6-23
YES _ . GO TO STEP 2.
2. Intake Air leak Inspection
Check fo r leaking carburetor insulator.
Is th ere leaking?
YES _ . Loose ca rbu retor insulator bands
• Damaged insulator
NO _. GO TO STEP 3.
3. Spark Test
Perform spa rk test.
Is there weak
or
intermittent spark?
YES _ . Faulty spa rk plug
• Fouled spa rk plug
• Loose or disconnected ignition system wires
• Broken or shorted spark pl ug wire
• Faulty ignition coil
• Faulty ignition pulse generator
• Faulty engi ne stop switch
• Faulty ignition switch
• Faulty engine control mod ule (ECM)
NO - GO TO STEP 4.
4. Ignition Timing Inspection
Check the ignition timing.
Is the ignition timing correct?
NO _ . Faulty engine control m odule

• Faulty ignition pulse generator
YES _ . Faulty automatic transmission system
