4.1.4 – HC residue test
Purpose:
This test checks for the absence of residual hydrocarbons which would distort the HC
measurement (and Lambda) value.
Frequency:
This test is automatically performed before each HC measurement. The test can also be
performed by manual operator selection.
Procedure:
Starting in standby mode:
• Go to the Selftest by pressing the "validation" key
• Select: "HC residue test" in the Selftest menu using the t or s keys then press
"validation".
The gas sampling sensor must be in the open air outside the exhaust pipe.
• The analyzer can perform a Calibration (duration: 60 S) before this test.
• The test is then performed automatically and lasts 20 s.
- If the value is less than 20 ppm, the unit will indicate "Good".
- If not, the unit will indicate "Bad". In this case:
. Purge the gas circuit by running the unit in vented mode.
If the message persists, replace the filters and clean the
gas sampling sensor (See paragraphs 4.1.7 and 4.1.8).

If the test is bad, no measurement is possible.
Another test can then be performed (validate < Repeat>), or return to standby mode
(validate <Cancel> OR PRESS KEY C).
