The system administrator can configure Trays 1 and 2 to Fully Adjustable or Dedicated mode. Each
time a tray is opened and closed, the paper settings appear on the control panel:
• The Fully Adjustable mode allows you to confirm or change the media settings. The tray guides
automatically detect the size of paper loaded.
• When the Dedicated mode is configured, the control panel displays the media settings for the
tray. If the wrong media is loaded, or the paper tray guides are set incorrectly, a warning message
appears on the control panel.
Note: Only the system administrator can change the media settings for a Dedicated tray.
When the paper in a tray is in short supply, or when a tray is empty, a warning message appears on
the control panel.
To load paper in Trays 1 and 2:
1. Pull out the tray until it stops.
2. Ensure that the paper guides are set in the correct position for the paper that you are loading. For
details, refer to Adjusting the Paper Guides in Trays 1 and
3. Remove any paper that is a different size or type.
4. To move out the length or width paper guides, release the guide lock, then slide out the length or
width paper guides.
