Floor Sound
A loudspeaker is available for each microphone unit to provide local sound reinforcement of the discussion. Individual
loudspeakers improve speech clarity and reduce audio issues common with traditional sound systems.
When a microphone is turned on, the audio is routed to the main mix (Group A) by default. This mix is often referred to as
the floor sound because it transmits the audio from anyone participating in the discussion. Interpreters also listen to the
floor sound to provide language interpretation for bilingual discussions.
To avoid feedback, the loudspeaker is turned off when that microphone is active.
• Flushmounted DC 5900 F: The flushmount unit requires the attachment of the LS 5900 F loudspeaker.
• Portable DC 5980 P: Each portable discussion unit includes an integrated loudspeaker.
Additionally, floor sound is available at the headphone output of most discussion units*. The floor sound is selected when
the channel LEDs are off.
*Excludes flushmount units with the FP 5921 F front plate.
